DTS Outreach: Navigating My On-Field Mission
My Journey with YWAM Butuan
My journey began in 2017 when I joined the Discipleship Training School (DTS) at YWAM Butuan. This six-month experience transformed my life. It deepened my relationship with God and revealed my true calling and purpose.
The lecture phase was particularly healing for me. It allowed me to confront past pains and bondages I had carried for so long. During this time, I recognized my need for a Father and Savior, learning to depend on Him in every aspect of my life. I discovered that God is the source of everything.
A vital part of our training involved outreach programs, where we traveled to various locations to fulfill God’s mission. My team visited Albay, Sorsogon, Baguio, Benguet, and Laguna. These experiences opened my eyes to the diverse needs of His people, especially their yearning for love and salvation. I learned how to reach children, youth, adults, and even the elderly with the Good News.
Discovering My Calling
As I sought clarity on my calling, God revealed a profound purpose in my profession. Each outreach location emphasized campus ministry, whether in elementary or secondary schools. With every opportunity to minister in these institutions, I envisioned myself as a vessel for God within the education system.
During this time, I also passed my licensure exam for teaching, which solidified the vision God had for me. I began to see my role not just as a teacher, but as someone on a mission—bringing God’s love and salvation to my students. Teaching became more than a profession; it transformed into my on-field mission. I felt called to share not only factual information but also transformational knowledge that brings glory and honor to Him.
Through my experiences in the DTS outreach, I have come to understand that education is a powerful tool for change. I am excited to be part of God’s plan in this vital field.
